CHAPPO HAS A FRESH SOUND AT THE BOWERY BALLROOM

Indie rock band Chappo had the responsibility of coming right out the gate at the Bowery and starting the night off right, and they did so in their own fresh sounding way. Finding an interesting combo between Bowie, The Flaming Lips, and Of Montreal the band’s opening set pulled out all the stops from confetti sticks to dance offs. As they covered material off their EPs and albums, the Brooklyn band’s catchy tunes were driven by Alex Chappo’s versatile vocals and subtle but talented Dave Feddock on all the lead guitar lines one needs for a solid rock show. From the more atmospheric “Hang On” to the dance jam “Come Home,” the band perfected the role of opener as getting everyone dancing right out the gate. Let’s just hope they don’t get too comfortable as an opening act.
