PANCAKE PICKS: THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 4-12-16

With Record Store Day fast approaching and a variety of cool gigs on the calendar, it’s a good week to be in NYC! Make sure you hit all the best shows using our fresh-baked Pancake Picks below.

Tuesday

The Dandy Warhols + Seratones @ The Bowery Ballroom – After releasing their newest single, “Catcher in the Rye,” just last month, the Dandy Warhols will be bringing their psychedelic alt-rock to the Bowery Ballroom this Tuesday with the Seratones in tow. Don’t miss ’em!

Wednesday

Har Mar Superstar @ The Knitting Factory – Har Mar Superstar is a character brought to you by independent singer-songwriter Matthew Tillmann, who is known for his nearly-nude performances and sexual prowess onstage. Har Mar will be kicking off a number of gigs at the Knitting Factory starting this Wednesday.

Thursday

Melvins + Napalm Death + Melt-Banana @ MHOW – This is going to be one hell of a show. Get ready to get loud at the Music Hall of Williamsburg with the heavy noise rock of the Melvins, Napalm Death, and Melt-Banana this Thursday.

Friday

Magic Man + The Griswolds + Panama Wedding @ Warsaw – If you haven’t caught a show at Warsaw yet, now’s your chance! (They have pierogies, for God’s sake!) This Friday’s lineup features electronic rock band Magic Man, as well as Australian indie rockers the Griswolds and NYC’s own Panama Wedding.

Saturday (Record Store Day!)

The New Mastersounds @ Brooklyn Bowl – This four-piece jazz and funk band from Leeds are hitting Brooklyn Bowl on Record Store Day, not long after the release of their 2015 full-length, Made for Pleasure. Get funky with ’em this Saturday once you’ve hit every record store in the city.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs @ Output – With a stage name like Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, you know this British DJ is not messing around. Orlando Higginbottom was classically trained in music growing up, which gives his work a definite edge. Check him out at Ouput this Saturday.

Sunday

Philly’s Phinest @ The Knitting Factory – Presented by Pancakes and Whiskey, the Philly’s Phinest fest brings together four awesome acts from Philadelphia, PA for one big night at the Knitting Factory. Bands on the lineup include Former Belle, Tutlie, Hemming, and Grandchildren, and you can read more about them here!
