PANCAKE PICKS: THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 4-18-16

After a number of sick shows, an awesome showcase at the Knitting Factory, and some serious Record Store Day haul amongst the team, we’re all fired up for another good week! Catch the very best shows in NYC with us using our Pancake Picks below.

Monday

Murder By Death @ Rough Trade – This 5-piece indie rock band comes from Indiana with more than a badass name in tow. There’s still time to catch them at Rough Trade tonight, and you can expect to hear material from their latest full-length, 2015’s Big Dark Love.

Tuesday

Adam Green, Beau @ Baby’s All Right – Perhaps best known as one-half of the Moldy Peaches, singer-songwriter Adam Green will be playing Baby’s on Tuesday, joined by one of NYC’s up-and coming folk-rock acts, Beau.

Wednesday

Tokyo Police Club @ Irving Plaza – Ontario’s much-loved indie rockers will be hitting Irving Plaza this Wednesday on the heels of their brand new EP release, Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness (Part 1).

Beach Slang @ MHOW – Philly punk rock outfit Beach Slang will be performing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg this Wednesday, playing material from their latest album, The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us. Getting loud with them will be opening bands Potty Mouth and Dyke Drama.

Thursday

Talib Kweli @ Brooklyn Bowl – This rapper-turned-activist first got his start rapping alongside artists like Mos Def and DJ Hi-Tek as part of Black Star in the late 90s. He’ll be showing off his latest and greatest at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday.

Little Green Cars, John Mark Nelson @ The Bowery Ballroom – Dublin indie rockers Little Green Cars will be playing the Bowery this Thursday, along with Minneapolis-based songwriter John Mark Nelson. Don’t miss ’em!

Friday

Moon Boots @ Output – Moon Boots is bringing his trip-hop to Outfit this Friday, not long after his release of Red Sky (The Remixes) and his announcement that he’s returning to Electric Forest this summer. Joining him will be Christian Voldstad, Illich, Mujica, and CGC.

Night Moves @ Rough Trade – Minnesota-based Night Moves, who have been warmly described as a “psych-country trio” and a “country-leaning indie band,” will be performing at Rough Trade this Friday. Expect to hear some good stuff from their poppier late-March release, Pennied Days.

Saturday

Houndmouth @ T5 – Don’t miss out on Houndmouth at Terminal 5 this Saturday, joined by Rayland Baxter and Lucy Dacus. We got to see Houndmouth play Irving last year, and they really hit the spot with their special brew of vintage, road-trip-ready country rock.

Reptar, Alexander F, Future Hearts @ the Knitting Factory – Alexander F – a supergroup featuring Rubblebucket’s Alex Toth and members of Bear in Heaven and Delicate Steve – are definitely worth catching with Reptar and Future Hearts this Saturday!

Sunday

The Thermals, Summer Cannibals @ The Bowery Ballroom – Portland indie rockers The Thermals will be playing the Bowery Ballroom with Summer Cannibals on Sunday – and we can’t think of a better way to end the week. Have fun, kids.
