PANCAKE PICKS – THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 10-24-16

This week the shows really pick up with some special acts across the city, so set your musical calendar with these handy Pancake Picks – The best shows of the week.

Monday

Jamestown Revival @ Bowery Ballroom – This Americana-rock duo out of Texas has killer harmonies that hits a bunch of different genres in their sound, that is fresh and should be a good bet for a Monday.

Deerhunter @ Webster Hall – One of the finest indie-rock bands return to NYC and couldn’t be a better way to kick off the Monday rust at Webster Hall.

Tuesday

Local Natives @ T5 – One of the better live bands returns after three long years, for two gigs at Terminal 5. This is the type of band you must see live to appreciate, as they just do it right. Treat yourself, you wont be disappointed.

The Record Company @ Rough Trade – Rock-N-Roll nowadays can mean many things, but with The Record Company it means what you THINK it means. 3 dudes, a guitar, a bass, a drummer and some harmonica that just want to rock out, like the good old days. See them now before they’re playing much bigger rooms.

Wednesday

Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins @ Leftfield – Multi-instrumentalist Mike Keneally, who is perhaps best known for his role as guitarist and keyboardist in Frank Zappa’s 1988 touring band, is set to play LeftField, which is perfect for a nice mid-week show.

Pond @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg – Tame Impalas whacky sister band, known for their amazing take on psych-rock, return to the states – a show not to be missed.

Thursday

The Pack A.D. @ Mercury Lounge – This two-piece garage-rock band blew us away a few years ago so don’t miss out, they’re a real treat.

Twiddle & Madaila @ Brooklyn Bowl – So, we heard you want to jam? Well, good news as Twiddle is performing three shows at the jam-friendly venue this week, we’re sure you can make it to one.

Friday

Cypress Hill & Naughty By Nature @ T5 – With memorable hits like “Hits From The Bong” and “Insane In The Membrane” the California rappers will hit NYC for their annual “Haunted Hill” show. Come celebrate 25 years of the “ooey-gooey sticky-shit” for a Friday you’ll talk about all weekend.

Saturday

The Strumbellas @ Bowery Ballroom – When we last saw Canadian Alt-Folk band, they had the East River at their backs and the sun shining on their faces at 4Knots fest earlier this year. Check em out for a fun and stress-free evening at the Bowery.

Jukebox The Ghost @ Music Hall Of WIlliamsburg – Okay, we’re assuming this show labeled as “HalloQueen” featuring Jukebox The Ghost in classic 70’s Queen garb means that the great live band will be performing some Queen stuff, which sounds like a ton of fun.

Black Kids @ Rough Trade – Black Kids have taken their time releasing new music (one song in 7 years), but the promise of their sophomore album coming out next year has us pretty excited for their unique brand of indie-rock. Catch some new tunes like “Obligatory Drugs” and tell us how they were at Rough Trade.

Sunday

White Fang & No Parents @ Baby’s All Right – If you feel like raging without any bullshit pretenses then this is the gig for you with some hard hitting bands like White Fang and No Parents.
