Isabella Manfredi and her boys – The Preatures – came a long way since being a hot shot act at CMJ in 2013. I know for a fact, they were courted a lot – and ended up signing a major label deal. The band started in 2010 as a Rolling Stone cover band – influences that you still hear in the music, the grooving, raunchy Rock’n’Roll music. Their 2012 Shaking Heads EP – focusing more on a intricate dynamic between Manfredi and guitarist Gideon Benson, the duo taking turns with leading on vocals. After seeing The Preatures live at the Bowery Hotel in 2013, the comparison of Manfredi being a female Mick Jagger doesn’t seem far fetched at all. After that, the Aussies followed up with their Is This How You Feel? EP, starting to conquer the hearts and groins of horny teenagers around the world. I hope you don’t read this as contempt – I love this band. They are like Flashdance, but with rock music, undeniably sexy in their musical style, their appearance, their attitude.
