Philadelphia based band, Strand of Oaks, played to a sold out show on Monday at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade. The intimate mood of the night was set perfectly by singer/song writer, Christopher Denny, who played a 45 minute long opening set. But the real treat of the night came when Strand of Oaks started their set. Playing fan favorites such a as “For Me” and my personal favorite “Shut In”, the crowd was definitely treated to a great night of music. Even though his songs can be seen as “dark” to some, Timothy Showalter, liked to balance the night out with his stage banter towards the crowd. Strand of Oaks is a band that is not going anywhere anytime soon and is definitely someone you should check out.
