After a 4 year hiatus, Lily Allen is back and better than ever! She sold out her show at Terminal 5 and I guarantee you not one person left disappointed. Lolawolf was the perfect opening act to get everyone in the mood and ready to have an epic night. Especially since her lyrics remind me of Lily Allen’s… you know in the straight to the point; not afraid to sing about private intimate moments aspect. Zoe Kravitz’s grit and intensity when she sings leaves you wanting more. If you’re familiar with her acting you’ll see a whole other side of Kravitz when she’s performing live. It’s as if she loses control of herself and the only world she’s in is the musical one. The sensual R&B sounds and the 80’s electropop vibes left fans screaming “I love you, Zoe. You’re hot!” I wonder how Lenny Kravitz felt about that…. YES HE WAS THERE supporting his daughter while wearing his infamous shades inside.
Lily Allen came on at around 9:30 and I certainly wasn’t prepared for the stunning set I was about to see. The minute she came on stage my thirteen-year-old self emerged and I immediately started fan-girling (like everyone else did.) Her dramatic entrance and outrageous outfit was the perfect way to greet her audience. Honestly, I expected nothing less. In between trying to capture the perfect shots, I was distracted by the gigantic baby bottles on stage, multiple outfit changes and a crew of very entertaining backup dancers. This is what a pop show should look like, people. Did I mention she took smoke breaks on stage, too? Now that’s multi-tasking! Not only is Lily Allen a spectacular performer, but also an incredible live singer who interacts with her admirers. As a fan that played her older songs on repeat back in 2006, it was such a treat to hear songs like “Not Fair” and “Littlest Things”, as well as her newer songs from her album “Sheezus” that was released in May. Fans loved the nostalgia of her old songs, but can also relate to her new songs now, since many of them were growing up the same time Allen was. Twenty-nine years old and two kids later Lily Allen is still one of the ballsiest women in my opinion, yet her British charm somehow lets’ her get away with it. She’s not like most pop divas! She’s known for her controversy-starting lyrics and smiling at first when she sees her exes cry, but from what I witnessed at Terminal 5, Lily Allen can do whatever the fuck she wants!
