DJ Natalie started the night off a little slow at Bowery Ballroom. The lights went down and the house music was silenced but Natalie was still not set up. She eventually set up and got the night going.
Things didn’t really get going until German duo Milky Chance took stage. Singer Clemens Rehbein and DJ Philipp Dausch just released their debut album Sadnecessary. Dausch lays down the beats, while Clemens handles the vocals and guitar. Clemens’ voice sounds like a Nestle Crunch Bar…silky smooth with a little crunch. They played everything off the new album, which was recorded in a bedroom with a laptop, some music software, a guitar and a microphone. Their set included “Stunner”, “Fairytale”, “Flashed Junk Mind”, their breakout hit “Stolen Dance” and an encore containing “Down By The River”. There are only a few US dates left on their tour before they head over to Europe. Chances are you won’t get to see them before they head overseas, but I can guarantee they’ll be back. This time selling out even bigger venues.
