WILDCAT! WILDCAT! GET THEIR MONDAY GROOVE ON AT THE BOWERY

We can all agree Monday nights aren’t considered “let’s go out and party” kind of nights. However, seeing a live concert especially a Wildcat! Wildcat! Show is something else. I sat down with the guys and they explained that Monday nights builds a special quality in a person. Keep reading to find out exactly what that is! When it comes to these guys, what you see isn’t always what you get. Picture this, a trio who come together as one. They are all best friends who have known each other for years and you can really tell that through their music. Hero, the first single from Wildcat! Wildcat!’s debut album, No Moon At All, is one of my favorites. It’s a very dancy-electronic work of art, like most of their songs. They have a sound that can easily distract you from reality and take you to the daydream world. At first, I thought this show was going to be way too indie for me, but they kicked ass! Big things coming from this band and I hope the world is ready.

Kayla: First things first, On Nov.11 you put on twitter “Fact: going to shows on Tuesday nights builds character.” So, what does going to shows on Monday night’s build hmmmm?

Michael: Stamina from just getting over the weekend.

Jesse C: Integrity

Kayla: Ok now for the more serious questions. A few months ago you released your album “No Moon At All.” How would you describe it in one word?

Michael: In one word? Uh….

Jesse T: Apparently uh is one.

Michael: No.. I’d say allusive

Jesse C: Available!

Kayla: I’d say dreamy!

Michael: OK! Let’s go with that!

Kayla: Is there any era of music you wish you could’ve been a part of?

Michael: Damn! Most of them!

Jesse C: The 90’s were pretty bad ass!

Jesse T: I mean this one’s pretty cool.

Kayla: Really? Wow I haven’t gotten that, like ever. I feel people find this era to be dull. What about this era do you like so much?

Jesse T: ‘Cause nobody knows the answer!

Michael: It’s just exciting because we’ve gone through the whole stealing music phase and artists are getting a little bit more leverage in unassuming ways. There are new approaches for us to get recognized and so many different platforms.

Kayla: Right! Especially with social media, although I feel like it’s hard to have that mystery that rock stars had back in the day. I mean could you imagine Jim Morrison on Twitter like “Oh hey guys, I just had some mac&cheese. Go check out my new song!”

Jesse C: Yea, we read Hammer of the Gods

Kayla: Oh, The Led Zeppelin bio?

Jesse C: If YouTube would’ve been around then, they all would’ve been in jail.

Kayla: This is a hard one, so feel free to take some time! If a movie was made about your life, what song would have to be on the soundtrack?

Jesse C: I’m going to go with “All Is Full Of Love” by Björk

Jesse T: Um.. “Postcards From Italy” by Beirut

Michael: “No Name #5” by Elliot Smith

Kayla: Clearly, I approve! If you were the coordinator of an upcoming festival who would be headlining?

Jesse C: Led Zeppelin reunion?

Jesse T: Yea!! Then arcade fire jumped on stage, then David Bowie came down from the sky or something and then…

Jesse C: Dr. Dre

Kayla: Oh! No holograms?

Jesse C: Elvis!

Jesse T: I was actually there for that first hologram thing before there was any footage of it. It was creepy, but whatever just put your hoody on and start dancing!

Kayla: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard Michael is obsessed with space?

Michael: Wait what? I love space?

Jesse T: Maybe he meant like personal space. That’s really important to all of us.

Kayla: Well, you were asked “If you could get any ticket to anywhere in the world where would it be?” You said space!

Michael: Ohhh! Ok yea that’s totally true. I would love it.

Kayla: Did you hear about how they’re coming up with a reality show taking place on Mars?

Michael: I would want to do it like incognito and just go.

Jesse C: Yea we’d all go and we could write another album from space.

Kayla: Speaking of writing, I know you guys have known each other for a pretty long time! Does that make the song writing process easier or harder?

Michael: Yea 16 years! Both! It’s easy because we can be really honest with each other

Jesse C: but also it’s harder because we can be really honest with each other.

Jesse T: There’s no filter!

Jesse C: Nobody cares any less about it. If someone tries to, the other two are like “NO! You have to care! What do you mean you don’t care?” “You’re caring right now!”

Jesse T: There’s acquiescence to it. I mean I don’t know we all just really really care about it so much.

Michael: Yea we all care! Letting go of appropriate emotions is super vital. It’s something that was a necessity while we were making the record. Decisions need to be made and when you’re fucking looking at your friend in the face saying “I don’t like what you’re doing” and they’re all like “well, I don’t like what you’re doing,” someone has to budge. A lot of bands have the perfect set up with the perfect individuals that come together OR there’s just that one guy doing everything. It’s really hard to be in a band and to write. There’s a lot that comes with being in a band.

Jesse C: That’s honest!

Kayla: Oh yea so hard to be in a band!!!

Michael: Well, there are obviously great perks, but when it comes down to being creative and making sure everyone is on the same page at all times, there’s a lot that comes with it that nobody would ever imagine.

Kayla: I know this tour is coming to an end and I’m sure you guys miss being home in LA.

Jesse T: We were just talking about this earlier… how we’ve been lucky that none of us had to transplant to another city. So, we come back and we all have similar friends with similar interests that have carried on through the years. So yea, that’s home!

Kayla & Jesse C (in unison): “Awwwww!”

Kayla: What’s the best venue you’ve been to so far?

Jesse C: Lollapalooza? That’s a venue right? (Quite the jokester.)

Michael: St. Paul was amazing! They treated us so well. It’s just nice when you’re a small band and you didn’t sell the place out, but they’re still taking care of you and treating you with respect. I understand that sometimes the workers are kind of cold, since they do this every night. It’s extra special when the people that work there are normal people and want to chat or even help out.

Jesse T: Hopefully it’s Bowery Ballroom in a couple of hours!

Kayla: What’s next for “Wildcat! Wildcat!?”

Jesse C: We’re gonna play a show.

Kayla: Which I’m looking forward to.

Michael: Nice! Then, we go home and sleep for a month. Then, Julie will put us to work again! *points to their PR manager, Julie, who’s reading emails.*

Jesse T: Possibly writing new music and an overseas tour, like a Hawaii tour.

Michael: Oh and we’re in the preliminary meanings of scoring a film come the New Year, which should be cool. It’s like a video remix. Basically this thing where it’ll have video footage that was shot specifically for our album and whoever wants to can take whatever footage they want and put whatever song they want from the album.

Kayla: That sounds so fucking neat! OK! Last very important question! Do you guys like Pancakes and do you like Whiskey?

Michael: 100%! Oh and space!

Jesse C: Yes! I like whiskey and pancakes…if there’s peanut butter on them!
