Not long after having to spend over two days trapped in their tour bus due to a ridiculous snow storm in northern NY, Interpol took over Terminal 5 with a 3 night stand. The three shows sold out immediately, showing how far they have come in the dozen years since they broke out in NYC. All three shows were high energy nights set on a dark and foggy stage that seemingly enhanced the bands vibe and sound. We caught the third and final show of their “El Pintor” tour at T5 and it was a great one.
Opening the night was the psychedelic-pop band, Hundred Waters, who threw down a 45 minute set filled with synths and dreamy guitar work. Lead singer Nicole Miglis is the obvious star of this ship and with her high ranged vocal style, easily had the room grooving along.
The highly stylish Interpol followed with a marathon set with hits such as “Slow Hands, “PDA,” and ending the night with “Obstacle 1” and “Untitled.” After three sold out nights at Terminal 5, one might wonder if this may be the last time a venue of this size will be able to hold this amazing group and their rabid fanbase.
