Performing at this years 25th annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert are The Flaming Lips, Philip Glass, and Laurie Anderson. Also featured will be Ashley MacIsaac and Tenzin Choegyal, with more artists to be announced soon. Besides the awesome artists who will be gracing the stage, a slew of cool guests will be Honorary Chairpersons for the night including Uma Thurman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chuck Close, Peter Sarsgaard, and Arden Wohl.
The unique concert event will take place on Thursday, March fifth at Carnegie Hall and tickets are already on sale! Prices range from $35 to $200 and can be purchased by calling Carnegie Charge, going to the Carnegie Hall Box Office, or by clicking here. First and second tier seating are already sold out, but you can still snag a ticket for the balcony at just $35-$45.
The Tibet House US was founded in 1987 and came to fruition at none other than the Dalai Lama’s request in order to ensure that the unique civilization of Tibet would be sustained. This year’s Benefit Concert will mark the 27th year that the Tibet House US has served the public.
Last year’s concert proved to be a wild event reminiscent of the days of yore at CBGB, as quoted by Rolling Stone. “For a few glorious moments, New York’s Carnegie Hall devolved into a scene straight out of a CBGB fever dream…many in the crowd could no longer take it, storming to the front of the stage and going completely apeshit. It was the kind of scene only possible at the Tibet House benefit…”
