“What started with a bit of Amazon/iTunes sleuthing earlier last week by members of the community, and was followed by a seemingly random image on Modest Mouse’s Instagram this past Friday, finally has meaning.
Today the band is sharing a new track and its video with their fans. That track is “Coyotes”, a song which saw its live debut in May of last year at the Beacham Theater in Orlando, and has since been performed to our knowledge another 5 times.
The video is inspired by the true story of a coyote that rode Portland’s MAX light rail train in 2002.
The “Coyotes” digital download is available at all online retailers starting tomorrow, January 20, and is also an instant download with digital pre-orders of Strangers to Ourselves at iTunes.
The band has also informed us that the first 2,500 vinyl pre-orders of the new LP from ModestMouse.com will receive a complimentary copy of the limited “Lampshades On Fire” / “Coyotes” 7″.
The 7″ will also be available free with all vinyl pre-orders of Strangers to Ourselves at select retailers also on Tuesday, January 20th. The 7″ will not be for individual sale.
Finally, if you pre-ordered the Strangers to Ourselves vinyl from ModestMouse.com before January 20th, your order will automatically contain the “Lampshades On Fire” / “Coyotes” 7″. “Strangers to Ourselves” will be released through Epic on March 3rd.” – Interstate 8
