If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing Torres live, the alter ego and stage name of Brooklyn based singer songwriter Mackenzie Scott, you might have already seen her new material. Finally, she’s not letting us wait any longer and announced the release of her sophomore record, Sprinter, out May 5th via new label home Partisan Records. Judging from the first cut “Strange Hellos,” it will be another excellent record. Following in the footsteps of fellow female troublemakers, the new tune is strong, bold and intense. Torres’ voice, torn with intensity, howls with the force of a pack of wolves.
She also has some great names joining her on the record: PJ Harvey collaborator Rob Ellis produced it, while PJ’s bassist Ian Oliver supported her on the four string. If that wasn’t enough of a knighting, none other than Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley joined the youngster on the record as well.
Oh hey, and she’s going on tour, too. This Friday she’ll be playing BK night bazaar with P&W favorites Mainland, Heliotropes and Ancient Ocean. See full list of tour dates as well as the track listing below.
