Beginning this May and running through the month, Scottish rock trio Primal Scream will be embarking on a North American tour. The trio is made up of Bobby Gillespie, Andrew Innes, Martin Duffy, Darrin Mooney, Barrie Cadogan, Kevin Shields, and Simone Butler.
The tour comes after the release of the band’s first LP in five years, More Light, on International/Ignition Records. The 13 songs on the album were written by Gillespie and Innes, while David Holmes produced the album. The album features collaborations with Robert Plant, Kevin Shields, Jason Faulkner, and The Pop Group’s own Mark Stewart. You can listen to “It’s Alright It’s OK,” the last track off More Light, here. An additional six songs are available on Extra Light. You can watch the film for one of those songs, “2013,” directed by Rei Nadal, below.
The tour kicks off May 9th in Austin, TX at the Austin Psych Fest and ends here in New York on May 21st at Warsaw in Brooklyn. If you live in NY, you have two chances to catch Primal Scream as the tour has two New York dates listed, May 20th being at Irving Plaza and May 21st at Warsaw. Don’t miss this!
