BREAKFAST IN FUR SHINE AT CAMEO GALLERY

I’ve been a casual listener of Breakfast in Fur since around 2012 but the release of their new album, Flyaway Garden just might make me an outright fan, not to mention propel them onto the radars of dream pop lovers.

Breakfast in Fur (a reference to the Meret Oppenheim sculpture), played a short, charming set at Cameo Gallery on Saturday. Kaitlin Van Pelt’s hushed tone is a perfect match with the moody, contemplative melodies while Dan Wolfe provides an enjoyable contrast on the band’s peppy new single “Shape” and the jangling, searching “Setting Stone.” The group arrived in Brooklyn on the heels of a SXSW showcase and will spend most of spring touring in New York; they’ll be in New Paltz April 12th. “Portrait” and “Episode” are gorgeous; be sure to dig back in their catalogue for the oldie/goodie, “Shine.”
