Listening to good music on a rooftop with a colorfully radiant New York City sunset as a backdrop to your skyline view – what could be more perfect than that? Maybe just a drink (or five), but that’s a given. We are excited to share COIN’s stripped down, acoustic performance of their song, “Run,” with you here at Pancakes and Whiskey. The melodica, mimicked by the vocals, gives us a sweet start to this epic jam. The harmonies and strong falsettos leave us with all of the good vibes, as the rhythm-centric acoustic guitars and light percussion seamlessly comply with the wonderfully raw, folksy essence. Hearing this song in a more simplistic form is quite a deviation from the full-fledged sound on the studio-recorded version of the track. The good news is that COIN gets it right either way! This tune will have you grooving along, as you’re sure to have the hook in your head for hours. Beyond that, these guys are clearly having a great time, making you utterly jealous that you weren’t there to see this played live. Thankfully, this Whiskey Session video allows you to take part in the good time that was shared on the rooftop. As the lyrics of the chorus say: “Something tells me that you’re never gonna stop ‘til you get what you want…maybe we can run.” The song is hopeful and encouraging, with the important message that no matter how big or far out your dream might be, there’s no reason not to go for it.
