Pancake Picks: CMJ Edition
Wow, it’s tough to believe, but CMJ Week 2015 has finally arrived. For most of us who have spent all summer traveling around the city and country covering the festival circuit, it’s been a hell of a ride. With the onset of fall comes the end of summer, and with CMJ week officially upon us, thus officially marks the end of a fantastic summer concert and festival season. It seems like we just started, but what better way to officially say goodbye to summer than with a week long of fantastic bands from around the world with showcases all day and into the night as well as brilliantly curated panels and networking events.
Usually each week I write down what I feel are the best shows to go to each week across the city. CMJ makes that responsibility damn near impossible, but I’ll try my best to steer you towards some of the better-curated showcases of the week. Remember that most venues are PACKED at night, so don’t be too down on yourself if you can’t get into a showcase that you want, remember there’s still a ton of great musicians and bands playing all over the city, so it’s not the end of the world if you end up at Pete’s Candy Store instead of Baby’s All Right.
