We had the opportunity to catch an EP listening party for Sean McVerry’s new album, Hourglass Switchboard 1 at CHCM boutique. The quick 20-minute performance of his new material was highlighted when he jumped into the packed crowd onto a bench and asked the audience to help out. The result was nothing short of beautiful, and had the packed room humming the backing track to “Current State,” which Sean described as “the most satisfying feeling looking people in the eyes and knowing they were sold on the song.”
Today, we are excited to premiere the amazing EP in its entirety, a day before its release to the world. McVerry is bringing his show on the road starting tonight, opening for Tor Miller, and will have him performing his exciting new material at venues across the country, and we suggest you check him out along the way. If you do catch him, buy him a shot of Bulleit Bourbon for us, as we learned it’s his favorite whiskey. He’s most eager to play “Kerosene” as he noted – he connects heavily with and said – “lyrically, its burying yourself into a metaphor like you don’t know what the fuck your talking about anymore, but it feels like an extension of myself.”
McVerry will release the follow-up, Hourglass Switchboard II later this year. Both projects were brilliantly co-produced by Elite whose previous work includes the production for J.Cole’s critically acclaimed album Born Sinner and includes hit single “Crooked Smile.”
