GIN WIGMORE DELIVERS A POWERFUL PERFORMANCE AT THE BOWERY

With a mischievous smile and brooding attitude, Gin Wigmore won our hearts over as she played at Bowery Ballroom this Wednesday night for her “Willing To Die Tour.”

As smoke billowed from the stage and the lights turned into a sultry red, each band member appeared on stage then came out Wigmore rocking a casual, but awesome all-black outfit with a fitted blazer. Making the crowd go crazy by starting the night with “New Rush,” she has an eclectic mix of sounds from rock n’ roll to soulful songs; there’s so many possibilities to get addicted.

Hailing from New Zealand, recently released her critically acclaimed third studio album Blood To Bone, hearing her songs and then comparing her live there’s not much of a difference. It’s so refreshing to see an artist hit the same range with as much emotion and intensity that the song offers.

My favorite moments were when she sang, “Willing to Die” her latest single off of Blood To Bone; it’s the type of song that will send shivers down your spine because it’s a song of struggle but also learning how to take life by the balls basically and turning the situation around. There was also a song, which I unfortunately can’t remember but the first 30 seconds reminded me of sultry burlesque shows where whiskey would just make the moment oh so perfect- Gin adorably danced through the stage while the guitarist took the stage front and center and delivered some awesome electric guitar riffs. This show was definitely worth the wait!
