Bob Dylan sang on “Absolutely Sweet Marie,” “to live outside the law you must be honest,” and it was in front of that man that I first saw Outlaw Willie Nelson play. And if there’s anything you can call Willie, it’s honest. When he sings the life he loves is playing music with his friends, he means it. So, doing what he loves, he gathered up a few of his very talented friends and family and started a festival, naturally called the Outlaw Music Festival.
It’ll take place in Scranton, Pennsylvania at Montage Mountain on Sunday, September 18, 2016, and the lineup is pretty incredible. In addition to Willie, the headliners are rounded up with Neil Young + Promise of the Real, an artist that needs to explanation, and Sheryl Crow, who has gone criminally underrated as one of America’s greatest singer-songwriters. Also performing will be the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Lee Ann Womack, and Brothers Osborne, with additional performers to be announced as the event gets closer.
According to the release: “Artist fan clubs and Citi® card member pre-sales begin Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10AM, and run through Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10PM.” Regular tickets on sale Friday, July 29 at 10AM via Ticketmaster.com and also the Montage Mountain Box Office.
