Interpol front man, Paul Banks collaborated with Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA to release Banks & Steelz Anything But Words. In support of the release, this unlikely pair played Bowery Ballroom Tuesday night.
The evening started with the Bronx’s, Kool Keith. Dressed in sheik-like headgear and drenched in red lights, Kool Keith got the packed house rocking.
Banks & Steelz took the stage with Banks on guitar, RZA on the keyboard and both sharing vocals. The crowd was just as diverse as Banks’ & RZA’s musical styles. Theses two really married their styles entirely. The album, three years in the making, features guest appearances from artists like Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine as well as former Wu-Tang members, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, and also Kool Keith. According to a recent Rolling Stone interview, there are more songs in the works with some possible guest appearances that I’m looking forward to.
