Last month, Duchess Says dropped one of the hottest albums of the year with Sciences Nouvelles and yesterday released this creepy and enthralling video for “Negative Thoughts.” In complete contrast to the 80’s synth-pop video for “I Repeat Myself,” Duchess Says goes in a totally different direction with a dark, grungy-ripper of a tune that has us mesmerized.
Clocking in at a whopping 6:30, the dreary cinematography gives us foggy scenes laden with symbolic images, matching biker-jackets, macabre-masks and a scene with a glass of milk that’s somehow disturbing. The lyrics are sung with such a pointed fury, we can’t help but think that there’s an equally frightening story behind the story, adding even more intrigue.
Do yourself a favor and pick up Sciences Nouvelles on wax via Slovenly Records; we received ours perfectly shipped in 3 days and it’s on constant-rotation at the moment at the P&W office.
