PANCAKE PICKS: THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 12-12-16

Monday

#StandWithStandingRock Benefit Show @ Brooklyn Bowl – With all proceeds going to support the ground efforts of the Standing Rock community, there’s no better ticket to splurge on tonight. Head to Brooklyn Bowl to show your support and catch artists like Immortal Technique, Kyp Malone, The Skins, Holly Miranda, St. Lucia, Diane Birch, and Cole R.

 

Ally Coalition Talent Show @ Webster Hall – The Ally Coalition’s 3rd Annual Talent Show is going down at Webster Hall tonight, featuring prominent artists like Bleachers, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ke$ha, Charli XCX, and more. The show will benefit New Alternative’s work to support homeless LGBTQ youth in NYC.

 

Tuesday

Earthless @ The Bowery Ballroom – San Diego power rock band Earthless are bringing their eclectic sound to the Bowery Ballroom this Tuesday night. Expect to hear their latest singles, “Acid Crusher” and “Mount Swan,” which were released as A/B sides this year.

 

Topaz Jones @ The Knitting Factory – Rapper Topaz Jones is performing in Brooklyn this week, fresh off the release of his newest full-length album, Arcade. Head to The Knitting Factory on Tuesday to hear what he’s been up to.

 

Mustardmind, paris_monster, Steady Sun & Secret Crush @ Sunnyvale – This impressive bill features some of NYC’s finest including the fast rising Mustardmind and one of our favorites here at P&W, paris_monster.

 

Wednesday

Honduras, Stuyedeyed, Navy Gangs, Retail @ Baby’s All Right – Baby’s All Right brings in a nice lineup this week, with Honduras, Stuyedeyed, Navy Gangs, and Retail all on the bill this Wednesday. We had a blast rocking out with Stuyedeyed a few months back, so it’s sure to be a fun show.

 

Thursday

The Oh Hellos @ MHOW – If you’re already feeling the holiday spirit, don’t miss the Oh Hellos’ Christmas Extravaganza at Music Hall of Williamsburg this Thursday. Fans can expect to hear songs from the folk rock duo’s holiday album, The Oh Hellos Family Christmas Album, of course.

 

The Lox @ Highline Ballroom – The legendary NYC rappers who were overshadowed back in the 90’s by bigger names have OG status now and return for a special gig at the Highline Ballroom, we’ll be there!

 

Friday

You Won’t @ Rough Trade – Massachusetts-based folk-pop duo You Won’t are heading to Rough Trade this Friday. After the release of their latest LP, Revolutionaries, it’s a great time to catch the two live.

 

Spirit Animal, Nico Yaryan @ The Knitting Factory – Brooklyn’s own Spirit Animal will be getting funky at The Knitting Factory this Friday, days after the release of their new holiday single, “Come to Christmas.” They’ll be joined by singer-songwriter Nico Yaryan, who just released his first full-length album, What A Tease, this year.

 

Saturday

Zeds Dead, Tokimonsta, Hunter Siegel, Pusher @ Terminal 5 – Terminal 5 is the place to be for dance music this Saturday night, with popular Canadian electronic duo Zeds Dead heading up a strong roster of fellow DJs.

 

Acid Dad, Gymshorts, Rips @ Baby’s All Right – Baby’s All Right is sure to get trippy this Thursday, with psych punks Acid Dad, Gymshorts, and Rips all in one room together. If you want to trip/freak/rock out this week, don’t miss out on this one.

 

Sunday

Shearwater @ The Bowery Ballroom – Texas indie rockers Shearwater are playing the Bowery Ballroom this Sunday, following the release of their latest album, Jet Plane and Oxbow. Fun fact: lead singer Jonathan Meiburg, whose music often uses imagery based in nature, is also an ornithologist.

 

Young Thug, 21 Savage @ Terminal 5 – Atlanta’s Jeffery Lamar Williams, better known as Young Thug, is a rapper known for his unconventional style. You can find out why at T5 this Sunday, where he’ll be joined by fellow Atlanta-based rapper, 21 Savage.
