PANCAKE PICKS: THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 4-3-17

The quality of shows are really starting to pick up recently here in this great city, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Check out our Pancake Picks below to help sort your musical calendar for the week.

Monday

Pretenders @ Terminal 5 – How this show isn’t sold out is mystifying as this band is legendary. Go party and dance with Chrissie Hynde and friends, you’ll thank us.

Tuesday

The Weeks & The Lonely Biscuits @ Bowery Ballroom – Two really solid bands on one bill makes this show special for an early-week treat.

Birch @ Rockwood – NYC synth-pop, with a deft-songwriter’s touch, is how we’d explain the excellence of Birch. Catch them at the intimate stage 1 at 7pm

The Temperance Movement @ Mercury Lounge – If you like your Rock N’ Roll straight-up, like we prefer our whiskey, then this is your chance to catch the excellent band out of the UK.

Wednesday

Charly Bliss & Operators @ Mercury Lounge – Charly Bliss is one of our local favorites, catch them and then stay for Operators.

Crystal Fighters @ MHOW – Crystal Fighters who hail from Spain, make killer dance-music with infectious rhythms that will have you ripping it up on the dance floor the whole show.

Thursday

Pile @ Baby’s All Right – Boston based Rick Maguire, better known as Pile, is an incredible solo artist who brings a memorable indie-rock sound to the mix.

Emily Wells @ LPR – Emily Wells played our own showcase a few years ago, and completely owned the stage and our hearts with her solo act.

Friday

City Of The Sun @ MHOW – NYC’s own returns with there multiple-genre, post-rock attack at the Music Hall.

Diet Cig @ Baby’s All Right – Diet Cig just keeps plugging away and it’s paying off as they’re playing nicer venues – if you haven’t caught the pop-rock duo yet, you should get on that.

Saturday

Jain @ MHOW – This French artist has an incredible pop-dance style and will be playing to much bigger audiences soon, be sure to catch her now in a nice small venue before she inevitably plays MSG.

The Hood Internet @ Brooklyn Bowl – The popular DJ group’s tenth anniversary tour is underway, hit up the bowl and be ready to dance.

Sunday

Jonathan Richman @ Bowery Ballroom – Mr. Richman has been going at it since 1970, which is beyond impressive. End your week with a legend.
