This week’s shows start to pick up a bit and brings us a broad range of genres that should be attractive for all. Set your musical calendars with the help of our Pancake Picks below:
Monday
Chairlift @ Bowery Ballroom – Selling out the previous two shows in mere moments, Brooklyn’s own Chairlift has added a 3rd date. Don’t miss out on one our city’s finest indie-pop bands.
Tuesday
The Decemberists @ Brooklyn Steel – One of the best live bands touring now, The Decemberists bring an infectious indie take on traditional folk-rock.
Dave Hause And The Mermaid @ MHOW – Come early for Hause’s genre-bending stylings and then stay for Frank Iero and The Patience – it’s a really great bill.
Wednesday
The Heavy Pets @ Brooklyn Bowl – The New York bred jam-band returns to Brooklyn Bowl and will have you dancing the night away to their fun catalogue.
Summer Moon @ Rough Trade – A “super-group” of sorts consisting of Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes and Steven Perkins (Jane’s Addiction) who’s one of the baddest drummers on the planet – plus Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her and Noah Harmon of The Airborne Toxic Event makes this show a must catch.
Thursday
Surfer Blood @ MHOW – Indie-rock with sensible poppy-hooks – get there early for NYC’s own Lazyeyes for a great double-bill.
Allie X @ House Of Yes – This fast-rising electro-pop artist who’s next album, CollXtion II, comes out in June, will play a special show at House Of Yes.
Friday
Miracle Legion @ Bowery Ballroom – Miracle Legion will tour together after a hefty hiatus and we are excited to finally catch them.
Overcoats @ Mercury Lounge – This late show was added by overwhelming demand, and for good reason as Overcoats is unique and special. See them at the intimate Mercury Lounge before they’re playing much larger venues.
Saturday
Ra Ra Riot @ MHOW – Come celebrate the band’s 10 year anniversary of their breakthrough EP at the Music Hall.
East Love @ Highline Ballroom – The last time we saw the NYC pop-rock band they pretty much packed Brooklyn Bowl last year and put on one hell of a show, now’s your chance to catch them.
Acid Mothers Temple @ Knitting Factory – Psych Rock from Japan that will leave you speechless, just remember to bring your earplugs as this is one of the loudest bands on earth.
Sunday
Kishi Bashi @ MHOW – Kishi Bashi is a unique force right now in the music scene who incorporates the violin seamlessly into a pop-rock stew that’s delicious.
