After a successful Record Store Day haul on Saturday, we look forward to a solid week of music ahead with a strong rock presence on most nights. So enjoy the beautiful spring-days and then head out to a show at night using our tasty pancake picks below.
Monday
Avec Sans @ Knitting Factory – Start the week off with the London duo who bring a fantastic electro-pop sound to the mix.
Tuesday
Gorillaz @ Rough Trade – The legendary band is back with a new LP soon, and if you get on line early enough, you can pre-order the album and get a wristband for the show later that night. We highly suggest you queue-up in the wee hours of the morning, or even the night before for the 11am doors; you’ll certainly have plenty of company!
L.A. Witch, Las Rosas & Stuyedeyed @ Knitting Factory – Fantastic all-around bill, sure to get you rocking all night long.
Wednesday
Atlas Road Crew & Stop Light Observations @Brooklyn B0wl – This South Carolina showcase is really special as some of the best bands in the south will rock your face off.
The New Pornographers @ Terminal 5 – Twenty years in, they aren’t exactly new, but with songs off their new LP, they will have T5 in a frenzy.
Thursday
Screaming Females @ Brooklyn Bazaar – Y’all should know exactly what a Screaming Females show entails by now, but if not, get ready to be rocked hard by one of the shred-iest bands on earth.
Juliana Hatfield @ Mercury Lounge – Juliana Hatfield has been rocking out since before most of us were born and her Wednesday show sold out in mere-minutes. Don’t miss out on this early show.
Moon Duo @ Rough Trade – The Alt/Psych-rock band out of Portland are winding down their massive tour and will crush you with a wall of sound.
Friday
Psychic Ills & Purling Hiss @ Baby’s All Right – Get there early for Purling Hiss and stay for the incredible Psychedelic set that Psychic Ills always brings.
The Bottom Dollars @ Mercury Lounge – Good rock n’ roll from Brooklyn who will bring their lively show to the late night slot at Mercury Lounge.
Saturday
Matthew Logan Vasquez @ Rough Trade – To quote his Facebook bio: “This ethnic fucker from Southern California and Central Texas” will rock Rough Trade properly; surprised this hasn’t sold out yet, so jump on it before it does or you’ll be miserable sitting at home.
Too Many Zooz @ Brooklyn Bowl Chances are, if you take the subway in this city, you’ve seen these guys ripping it up and drawing a shit-ton of tourists’ attention busking; now is your chance to support this fantastic local band when they play a real stage at Brooklyn Bowl.
Sunday
Tweed & argonaut&wasp @ Brooklyn Bowl – A high-energy fusion of funk, rock and electronica that will have the Brooklyn Bowl floor shaking from all the jamming going on. Get there early for argonaut&wasp for a complete night.
