If this song from Yes You Are called “HGX” sounds familiar, it’s because lately it’s been on heavy rotation in television commercials, awards ceremonies and more. Today we are happy to premiere the live acoustic video for the impressive and ultra-catchy tune. Word is, the Kansas City based alt/electro/rock band is putting the finishing touches on their debut LP, and we cannot wait for more of what this band has to offer.
“HGX” was based around a simple synth line and 808 drum beat but wound up with pretty slick production, so we thought it might be fun to share a stripped down version so people could get a more intimate feel for what we do and how we sound. We got a great opportunity to film and record at a tv studio here in Kansas City, with help friends at a radio station called The Bridge. We usually perform with tons of energy, just full out with the whole band raging, so this was really special to do with just us, the two songwriters. It felt very good.
