THE NATIONAL PERFORM THEIR NEW RECORD AT THE BEACON THEATRE

The National at Beacon Theater kicked off with the US Premiere of the movie I’m Still Here. Directed by Mike Mills this incredible piece of cinematography is blown to a whole new level with the soundtrack that The National put forward for the piece. The movie was very well received and a Q&A followed with Mike Mills, Aaron Dressner, Matt Berninger. Julien Baker hosted the chat which included some tough audience questions. One fan asked “Why do you guys pretend that your first record doesn’t exist?” much to the delight of much of the room as well as Matt and Aaron.

A short interval followed before The National took to the stage to perform the record which this whole evening was all about. I Am Easy To Find comes out on May 17th and with a host of special guests we were treated to the record in its entirety as well as some of the hits. Joining Matt and Co were Mina Tindle, Kate Stables and Julien Baker (two songs), as well as James McAlister and the Brooklyn Choir. The choir played a vital role in the process of putting this album together Berninger told us, and it would be quite difficult to perform any of these songs without them.
