First up was the band called Princess, a Prince cover band. Maya Rudolph, SNL alum, and Gretchen Liebermman formed this band because of their love of Prince and it was such a fun show. They were both so funny and great singers. They had synchronized dancing and wore such cool outfits. Everyone was singing along and having such a good time.
Singer/ songwriter, Patrick Downey, was phenomenal. I was so amazed with his guitar playing and stage presence. He packed a big crowd and put on a great show. I got to meet up with him before hand and learned he lived in New York but moved to Nashville! He was really cool and we talked about living in New York and going to NYU.
Brandi Carlile was amazing, as usual. She always knows how to connect with the crowd and pull at the heart strings. She talked a lot about the Pride Parade and the importance of Pride month. My favorite songs she sang was The Mother and The story. Her songs and her voice is so powerful and her smile is contagious. I was so happy to get to see her live. She packed a huge crowd.
Walk the Moon were really fun. They have good songs and are so talented.
The Lumineers were amazing. They are one of my favorite bands and I have been wanting to shoot them for a while. I embarrassingly, started crying during “Cleopatra.” The lyrics get me every time! The band is so talented and the lyrics to every song are so well thought out and beautiful. Wesley Schults is such a good singer and really captivates the audience. He talked about the new album, Gloria Sparksl, which is going to be a lot about addiction and recovery. They sang a couple songs off of it including “Gloria.”
I honestly did not think Cardi B was going to show up after hearing several rumors, but she showed up and did not disappoint. She was dancing all over the stage and played almost all of her hits. She even threw in a couple of her signatures “okuurrrs”. Her outfit broke and I thought the show was going to end right there. However, she came back on stage in her robe like nothing happened. She said “I don’t know where we are in Tennessee, but we gonna keep it moving baby” and that she did!
The last show I saw of bonnaroo was King Princess and it was a great show to end on. She is so talented and really engages with the audience. Her voice is so beautiful and so are her songs! She sang 1950 and I don’t think a single person in the crowd wasn’t swaying and singing along. She kept smoking her JUUL but it didn’t stop her from putting on an amazing show.
