Heaven sent San Francisco based Yassou Benedict had blessed audiophile’s delicate senses during a performance of “The Cloisters” from their debut It Fits in Dreams at CHARGED.fm’s loft in Dumbo. Benedict left everyone in attendance awed and subdued; a feeling equally expressed by those of whom watched the video. The attention drawing presence of the band, united in a amorous singularity. Lilie, James, AJ, Patrick, and Theo garbed in luminous pearl white all shined at a distance; it was as if a mirage of the sun rose through dark lavender rainclouds of light during the set and delivered UV rays of truth and loss.
Their angelic slow movements progressed like the touch of a lover, each caress giving way to delirious delight of surrender. Once the lyrics began spilling like warm honey from Lilie Bytheway Hoy’s lips, the song turned into the crescendo of a dream; the fingertips of their sound tracing the outer ear, giving way to the pleasure of the combination of sensations. A very unique sound that I hope will continue to grace the stage and screen for a long time to come.
