Monday
Leslie Mendelson @ Rockwood Stage 3 – This brilliant singer/songwriter brings her stories to the downstairs Rockwood stage with guitarist Scott Metzger. Having just spent the year across the pond working with Glyn Johns and Roger Daltrey, as well as Bob Weir in Cali on new solo material, expect nothing but a brilliant show from Leslie in an intimate setting.
Tuesday
Sharkmuffin @ Brooklyn Bowl – Fuzz/Glam/pop-rockers Sharkmuffin return to their friendly NYC home venues after a month-long national tour promoting their most recent album Chartreuse. The trio bring the noise in their heavy style of pop-rock that’s helping them stick out in a city full of musical posers.
Wednesday
Boh Doran @ Rockwood Stage 2 – An indie/pop artist from L.A. that finds herself comfortably in the mix of songstresses emerging into the scene through the genre, Boh celebrates the release of a new EP showcasing her catchy hooks and warm vocals with a free show.
High Waisted at Sea: A Rock ‘N Roll booze Cruise – High Waisted throws epic parties, last year we ate Pig at their tiki party and also attended their unreal booze cruise. With their superb surf-rock, an open bar for two hours, face-painting and a DJ spinning live records – this will be the party all your friends will be jealous over.
Lake Street Dive/Kitty, Daisy, & Lewis @ Central Park SummerStage – Another free show option for your Wednesday includes a trip to Rumsey Playfield. Central Park SummerStage begins to wrap up another amazing season of killer music in the park with the indie/pop band Lake Street Dive, and joined by popular sibling band Kitty, Daisy, & Lewis, who have gained a strong following in the U.K.
Thursday
Buddy Holly 79th Birthday Bash @ BB King’s – Most of you probably don’t realize how big of a role Buddy Holly played in the boom of rock music that came out of the 60s. Before The Stones and The Beatles, Buddy was a rock pioneer helping to forge a sound into pop music with his electric guitar here in America. Come on out and celebrate the early rock of the 50s with Buddy’s music.
Homeboy Sandman @ The Knitting Factory – This Queens bred Hip-hop artist has a way with words. His intellectual style and delivery is a breath of fresh air amongst the myriad of average emcees trying to make a name for themselves.
Friday
Painted Palms @ Baby’s All Right – Currently on tour in support of their next release, Painted Palms stop into NYC before heading over to Japan to play some new jams off their album coming out on Friday, Horizons.
Dumpstaphunk & Brandon “Taz” Niederauer @ Brooklyn Bowl – Get there early to catch the fast rising star who is Brandon Niederaurer. Brandon happens to be all of twelve years old and shreds like he’s being playing for twenty years. After you get your face melted, stick around for one for the funkiest live bands on the planet in Dumpstaphunk.
Saturday
WhoMadeWho @ Baby’s All Right – European indie-pop/dance band, WhoMadeWho, are only making four stops to play shows in the U.S. before heading back to Europe as part of their summer-long tour. They’ve shared bills with Daft Punk, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem, so they’d definitely got our vote. Need a reason to go out and dance on Saturday? Here it is.
Whiskey Bitches @ Le Poisson Rouge – As part of LPR’s On The Rise series, The Whiskey Bitches are no strangers to the gang here at Pancakes & Whiskey. We’ve followed them closely due to their inability to play a show that sucks. They’re meat and potatoes style of punk and garage rock makes them an easy win for trying to find a way to spend a Saturday night.
