We are excited to premiere the lead single off Von Geyer’s debut album called “Walking.” Opening with an infectious bassline, then followed by earthy vocals and marching guitars, ‘Walking’ is the type of tune that gets stuck in your head for its sheer brilliance and catchy choruses.
Von Geyer is the newest project from Love in Stockholm front-man Charlie Geyer, with the debut EP, Cheap Guitars, due out later this Fall.
After relocating from Boston to Brooklyn in 2012, Charlie began writing songs using only a cheap electric guitar and a notepad. “I’ve always had the luxury of collaborating with really talented musicians, so I saw this as an opportunity to strip things down and get more personal with my approach,” says Geyer.
Recorded with friends in the Winter of 2015 between New England and New York, Cheap Guitars is a raw and driving record that explores the struggles and triumphs of a young man in a new city. “This is my first New York record, and the city is definitely a character in these songs,” says Charlie – “I’m fascinated by the contrasts that New York seems to embody so effortlessly. There is so much beauty and inspiration and creativity around you all the time and yet there is also this intense sense of anxiety and stress that kind of fuels that creativity. I love it and I hate it, and that’s all part of the experience of living here and thriving here.”
The lead single, “Walking” debuts on Pancakes and Whiskey on Wednesday September 16th and is available everywhere on Friday 9/18.
