New York City welcomed The Wombats with open arms on Tuesday, November, 24th. Terminal 5 is a great venue to see your favorite band live, even if the nearest subway station is really far. That’s how you know if a band is really worth it or not. When you don’t care if you’re going to have to walk in the cold to see them. While the bars were scantily filled, the front of the stage was packed with smiling faces and those eager to see the British band. As the lights dropped and The Wombats took the stage, you could just feel the intense rush of energy! They started off the show by playing a song off their album, “Glitterbug” that they released this April. “Give Me A Try” has killer melodies and a soaring chorus. It is no wonder these Liverpool lads are still in such high demand if the enthusiastic and crowd-engaging performance they put on that Tuesday night was of any suggestion. Nobody does it quite like us New Yorkers though. “Dear Terminal 5, You made our year..” Murph, from The Wombats, clearly agrees.

With hits like “Moving to New York,” (which I’m sure holds a special place in most of our hearts) and “Tokyo,” it is no surprise that this trio has dedicated and loyal fans. The Wombats ran away and came back for their encore and as expected they closed with “Let’s Dance to Joy Division.” At this point everyone knew the end was near and the entire place went crazy. I even saw some of the security guards head bopping. Everyone was jumping up and down, while serenading the person next to them, “Let’s dance to Joy Division and celebrate the irony! Everything is going wrong, but we’re so happy!” These guys really know how to put on a memorable show.
