Big Grams: Big Boi plus Phantogram is Big Grams. This new and exciting collaboration released an album earlier this year, and on Monday had their first headlining show at Irving Plaza. The sold out crowd was in for a special treat and the energy of the venue was ready for it. As soon as the group walked on stage, the place erupted and was ready for an exciting musical experience. With only have a seven song album under their belt, three previous collaborations from Big Boi’s “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors,” Big Grams performed mashups of Outkast and Phantogram songs that filled the hour long set and left the crowd waiting and wanting more.
The chemistry and sound of this new super group would make a new listener believe they have been performed together their entire career and not just for 10 months. Crowd favorites of the night seem to be Big Grams’ “Goldmine Junkie” and the mashup of the Outkast hit “The Way You Move” slowed down into Phantogram’s “Don’t Move.” This show proves that Big Grams is a must see in the upcoming festival season and a must listen if you haven’t already. Listen to Big Grams, everyone’s doing it.
