Iggy Pop, Philip Glass, FKA Twigs @ Carnegie Hall – The only thing that could make a lineup like this any cooler is if it were all for a good cause – which is why we’re so excited about the Tibet House Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall tonight. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Tibet House U.S., a non-profit educational center commissioned by the Dalai Lama for the preservation of Tibetan culture. Tuesday
The Cactus Blossoms, Magnus Ferguson @ Mercury Lounge – For something totally different, The Cactus Blossoms will take you right back to the 40s and 50s with their vintage country sound this Tuesday. Joining them at Mercury Lounge will be Magnus Ferguson of Morningsiders, a band of true storytellers in the neo-folk/indie realm.
Julia Holter, Mary Lattimore @ The Bowery Ballroom – Mary Lattimore, a harpist who experiments with a variety of special effects, will be opening at the Bowery Ballroom this Tuesday. Then, headliner Julia Holter will be bringing her unique blend of indie and electronic all the way from L.A., performing songs from her latest release, Have You In My Wilderness.
Wednesday
Coastgaard, Surf Rock is Dead @ Mercury Lounge – If you really want to stick it to the cold weather, you can actually jam to some beach rock this week. Coastgaard and Surf Rock is Dead will be bringing the sand and the surf to Mercury Lounge this Wednesday, so we can all shake off the snow and enjoy the good vibes.
Thursday
Sunflower Bean @ The Bowery Ballroom – Having just been named “NYC’s coolest young band” by Rolling Stone, Sunflower Bean are making waves with their psychedelic sound and classic rock attitude. Don’t miss them at the Bowery Ballroom this Thursday, performing material from their full-length debut album, Human Ceremony.
The Soul Rebels @ Brooklyn Bowl – If you like horns, and a bevy of special guests including Talib Kweli, Big Freedia and many more, make sure to hit at least one of the three shows this amazing live band is playing this week at our favorite bowling alley.
Friday
Night Lovell @ Rough Trade – Head over to Rough Trade this week to catch Night Lovell, the rising young rapper everyone has been buzzing about. If you haven’t checked out his newest stuff yet (including the late-2015 single, “Fraud”), then Friday is your lucky day.
Jesu, Sun Kil Moon, Advance Base @ MHOW – Music Hall of Williamsburg is going to be one hot spot this Friday, as the British experimental band, Jesu, tear it up with folk rockers Sun Kil Moon and Chicago’s lo-fi Advance Base.
Saturday
The Big Pink w/ The Heirs @ LPR – Electronic rock fans will be pumped to hear that London’s The Big Pink are hitting Le Poisson Rouge this week, along with their special guests from L.A., The Heirs. The Big Pink’s just-released single, “Beautiful Criminal,” is just one treat you can expect to hear from the dreamy multi-instrumentalists this Saturday.
Bondax, Karma Kid @ MHOW – This Saturday, Music Hall of Williamsburg welcomes the popular electronic duo, Bondax, and English DJ Karma Kid. Featured on BBC Radio 1 early on, Bondax has been praised for their diverse, urban sound and steady stream of successful singles.
Sunday
Punk For Kids @ Brooklyn Bowl – The Rock and Roll for Kids series is designed to keep children moving, playing and singing while simultaneously teaching developmental milestones and listening to classic tunes.
