Paolo Nutini played a rare U.S. show to a sold out crowd at Webster Hall on Thursday night.
The Scottish singer had the venue full of fans from areas well outside of NYC. While waiting for the show to start, I was chatting with folks from all over the US…Texas, Los Angeles, Connecticut. I even ran into a couple from Belfast, Ireland.
While I was familiar with his 2006 hit “New Shoes”, I must admit I did not know much of the rest of his body of work. How could I have missed this?! This guy can sing! I heard influences from Sam Cooke to Louie Prima to Roy Orbison.
His set included songs from all three albums, “These Streets”, “Sunny Side Up” and his new “Caustic Love”, my personal favorite was a cover of Ben E. King’s “Spanish Harlem” during his encore.
