GIRL BAND EMBRACES THE MADNESS AT BABY’S ALL RIGHT

Baby’s All Right embraced the madness with a lineup of three noise bands on Thursday night. Toronto’s GREYS and Brooklyn’s Bambara opened for Girl Band, which, if you were wondering, has no girls. There was spitting, thrashing, flashing lights and people preemptively downing beers so as not to spill before chaos ensued.

The Irish foursome consisting of Dara Kiely, Daniel Fox, Alan Duggan and Adam Faulkner are back on the tour circuit after taking a brief hiatus earlier this year.  The sold-out crowd got to see Girl Band’s 2015 Baby’s performance revisited as the wild-eyed Kiely screamed their post-punk lyrics like five year-old prodigies throwing a tantrum. Fox, Duggan and Faulkner assaulted their instruments and gave the impression that they wanted to beat them into submission. The bands lyrics and style are manic and confrontational, yet seductive and logical. They use repetition to reinforce their message and add percussion to create melody.
