It’s always a good day when we can premiere a local band’s tune, and with “Paige’s Song” by Skinny Blonde we bring you some quality music from this great city.
Living here, it’s not unusual to strike up a conversation with someone you’ve never met, but normally it’s a quick hello or directions to the nearest subway station. “Paige’s Song” was written about a chance encounter with a complete stranger, who in a short amount of time made a deep connection with Mike, the lead singer of Skinny Blonde, and consequently this song was born. The tune is chill indie-rock throughout, there’s jangly and bouncy guitar notes poured over thumping bass and drums, but the real star is the husky-like lyric delivery and real-life content that we can relate with.
“Lyrically this song is about this bizarre experience I had on Mother’s Day – We had just played the first skinny blonde gig the night before and I was at grand central heading back home to visit my mother. I was standing in line to get coffee and struck up a conversation with a girl named Paige and we started talking as if we had known each other for years. Turns out there were a lot strange, and kind of eerie connections between our lives. Other than that the song really speaks for itself. “ – Mike Turzilli
