The time of the turkey is almost upon us, which means: It’s time to be thankful. And what are we thankful for? Awesome music.
For that very reason, you should go to Union Pool on November 12, 2 pm. Not only are there three awesome bands playing the venue, but it’s also to celebrate A Song A Day’s second birthday. A Song A Day is a music discovery service that sends you a song a day via email, based on the curator you pick. It’s actual humans doing the song picking, which is pretty cool.
Naturally, they also handpicked the bands for this event. Headlining act Cut Worms hails from Chicago and encompasses 60s mod rock and surf pop. Think early Beatles, Kinks and Beach Boys, but also bands like Allah-Las or Ty Segall. They’re joined on by Nassau, a duo from New York City that penns beautifully spheric folk music resembling artists like M. Ward or Real Estate. But you’ll start your afternoon out with Ben Seretan. The Californian guitarist and songwriter will bedazzle you with flying fingers. His tunes are pure folk-rock and manages to sound like anything Jim James would be involved with: My Morning Jacket, Monsters of Folk, The New Basement Tapes.
There really is no reason for you not to show up at Union Pool on November 12, 2 pm sharp. Tickets are $10. All ticket sales go directly to the artists. Should you need more incentive: there will be tacos and cheap beer. More info and tickets here.
