PANCAKE PICKS – THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 2-21-17

As Spring begins to tease us with some warm days, the shows around the city also seem to be picking up a little heat. There’s some killer gigs that are already sold out like Run The Jewels, The Lemon Twigs and Hamilton Leithauser, but can be grabbed over at stubhub – but if you don’t want to pay the price there’s some great shows below, so make a date using our pancake picks.

Tuesday

Lake Street Dive @ MHOW – Incredible band that infuses soul and pop for a good time out each show.

People’s Blues Of Richmond @ Brooklyn Bowl – Not much blues here but will rock the sh*t out of you at Brooklyn Bowl – sure to be great time.

Wednesday

Tove Lo @ Hammerstein Ballroom – Festival wonder-girl, Tove Lo finally breaks out on her own tour and we couldn’t be more excited.

Honduras @ Rough Trade – One of our favorite local bands is opening for London O’Connor at good ole’ Rough Trade, get there early for the local band and stay for the new music from O’Connor.

Thursday

Japandroids @ T5 – The last time the Canadian band was in town they played Knitting Factory, making a huge step this time around they bring their rock/punk show to the massive T5. Should be great.

Vita and the Woolf & Bell X1 @ Bowery Ballroom – Vita and the Woolf have been making huge steps lately with their electronic-soul-pop stylings and this opening slot for Bell X1 will be another big show for the Philly band.

Friday

Pissed Jeans @ Brooklyn Bazaar – If you like your punk-rock straight forward and dirty, check out Pissed Jeans at the Bazaar.

Mail The Horse @ Mercury Lounge – The last time we saw Mail The Horse they were playing an early afternoon set of blues/soul to a decent crowd at The Meadows fest. Here’s your chance to see a more intimate night of music with the Brooklyn band.

Saturday

The Dig @ MHOW – We had the chance to check out the band’s last rehearsal before their tour a few days ago and it was righteous. Don’t miss this show, trust us.

No Joy @ Sunnyvale – No Joy has a full LP out on Friday called Creep, and will be celebrating at the cozy venue with new songs.

Sunday

Dirty Dozen Brass Band @ Brooklyn Bowl – These cats have been going at it for more than 35 years, so head down to the bowl for a Mardi Gras, swinging good time.
