OLD 97’s PLAYED BROOKLYN BOWL…WELL, SORT OF

Old 97’s, Brooklyn Bowl, Night 2 – CANCELLED … well, sort of.

Upon arriving at one of my favorite venues in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Bowl, I was greeted with a line wrapping around the block, a first for me here. It seemed an electrical issue somewhere beneath Brooklyn Bowl and Brooklyn Brewery caused them to lose power. That wasn’t going to stop singer/guitarist Rhett Miller who quickly took to the streets for an impromptu Sidewalk Show.

He played a half hour set of hits from their extensive discography including “Doreen”, “Let’s Get Drunk And Get It On” and “Big Brown Eyes” for a group of people who traveled from Buffalo to see the show. He was joined on the ramp on Wythe Ave. by his bassist/vocalist Murry Hammond for a few songs as well as opening act Madison King for a duet of “4 Leaf Clover”. If you still want to catch them, Old 97’s will be doing a free show Sat. August 9th at Lincoln Center.
