So with Springtime near, and well over a foot of snow expected tomorrow (fucking seriously?!) we are a bit conflicted, but at least it’s St. Patrick’s Day on Friday. What we do know is that our city is full of great shows every week so get out (probably not on Tuesday) to a show despite the weather.
Monday
Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band @BK Bowl – If you need to Google “Phil Lesh” this show may not be for you, but for those who know, it’s sure to be a hoot with the legendary Grateful Dead bassist and his merry band of travelers.
Living Colour @ City Winery – The legendary rockers bring a special acoustic set to the City Winery tonight, we’ll be there to catch some stripped down versions of their classics and new songs alike.
Tuesday (check with venue before heading out)
Strand Of Oaks @ MHOW – Great band that just keeps getting better, hopefully that storm will pass to the west or you’ll be looking at a re-schedule.
Wednesday
Tortoise @ LPR – A year has passed since the band’s last NYC appearance and having been traveling around the world with their eclectic and groovy sounds, catch them at one of the finest venues and tell em we sent you’.
Blood Or Whiskey @ Webster Hall Studio – Think Dropkick Murphy’s, but really from Ireland. Get your St. Patrick’s Day on a few days early with this Celtic-Punk band straight out of Dublin.
Thursday
Red Baraat Festival Of Colors @LPR – Quickly gaining notoriety for their incredible live performances, Red Baraat returns to LPR for a show that will blow your mind.
Candiria @ Knitting Factory – Once in awhile we like metal, but it takes a band like Candiria who mixes many styles, to get us out to mosh.
House Of Pain @ Irving Plaza – Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their huge hit, “Jump Around” the L.A. bred boys return to NYC the day before St. Paddy’s day – no brainer.
Friday
The Narrowbacks @ Bowery Ballroom – “Narrowbacks” was a disparaging term sometimes used for the Irish immigrants back in the day (today we’d be called “Bad Guys or Bad Hombres”), usually meaning slight of build or unfit for work. This folk-punk band has strapped that name to their backs and will blow you away on everyone’s favorite “holiday” at the Ballroom.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead @ BK Bowl – The band is playing a few dates at the bowl and with their fun set’s will having you dancing away.
Milky Chance @ LPR – Having caught them a few years ago, we can assure you will have a good time with the German bands pop-rock groove.
Saturday
And The Kids, Kalbells & Alex Toth @ Knitting Factory – What is sure to be a great overall night of music with And the Kids, plus the side-projects from Rubblebucket’s own Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth.
Ezra Furman & Monograms @ Rough Trade – The treasure that is Ezra Furman hits good old Rough Trade, get on it before it sells out.
Sunday
Jens Lekman @ MHOW – Friday’s show sold out in mere minutes, don’t miss the stylings of Lekman, perfect for a Sunday.
