Monday
Wild Child Pop-Up @ Knitting Factory – Word came to us last night about an exciting pop-up show from the Austin, TX indie-band Wild Child. It’s all ages and will be a highlight of the week, don’t miss out.
Stop Light Observations @ Rough Trade – When we caught SLO this spring at Mercury Lounge, the line to see them was wrapped around the block…and they were the openers. If you want to see one of the better up-and-coming rock bands, then hit up Rough Trade.
Tuesday
High & Mighty Brass Band @ Bowery Ballroom – Dance the night away to the city’s premiere brass band, but be sure to get there early to catch local faves Idgy Dean and Teen Commandments.
Wednesday
Wilder Maker @ Baby’s All Right – The band’s first “interest” listed on Facebook is “Bourbon,” which obviously peaked our interests, so we looked a little further and are excited for their moody-Americana-rock music, that will have you dancing and wondering why you haven’t been listening all along.
Thursday
Ride @ Brooklyn Steel – One of the original “shoegaze” band’s returns to the city and brings with them a wealth of alt-rock, featuring new tunes off thier recent LP, Weather Diaries.
Twiddle @ Irving Plaza – The Vermont jammers have a three-night residency and bring their multi-genre stylings to the famed venue for what will be a memorable weekend.
Friday
Small Black @ Surf Lodge – Our FREE Summer Surf Lodge series continues with Small Black and will bring their awesome electro-pop groove to the perfect summer destination in Montauk. Check out the last installment at the Surf Lodge with Rubblebucket here.
Phish @ MSG – During their annual NYE show last year, there were rumors about a massive run at the famed venue – it was all true as they embark on a 13 show run dubbed “The Bakers Dozen,” this Friday which will surely go down in jam-rock history.
The Kills @ Brooklyn Steel – When we caught the duo in LA last year, we were mesmerized by their “guitar-driven music that is both bold and avant-garde.” This is one you shouldn’t miss.
Moe. @ PlayStation Theater – If you are still in the mood to dance your ass off after Phish, or would just like to see Moe., you’re in luck with this late-night set (11:59pm) in Midtown.
Saturday
Iron Maiden & Ghost @ Barclays Center – Some of you will knock the dust off the multi-patched, corduroy-jacket that’s been hanging in your closet for the last 5 years, say a prayer to the dark lord, and then head down to Barclays to see the legend that is Iron Maiden. Just be sure to stretch out before headbanging, because while the band is still in top-form, your neck isn’t.
The Shivers @ Rough Trade – We premiered their gorgeous video last February called “The Dirty Shed” and got an amazing response from you all about it. Now’s your chance to catch The Shivers live at Rough Trade.
Sunday
Kendrick Lamar @ Barclays Center – If you have deep pockets (tickets starting at over $100 for face-value) and want to see one of hip-hop’s premier performers at Barclays, there’s still tickets left to both shows.
