We are excited to share the premiere of Sleeping Jesus’ new EP called House Plants with you today. The Minneapolis band has been a busy bunch after the release of their 2016 Perennial EP, which made them a hot-ticket in Minnesota and beyond.
The four song EP starts with the wavy and rolling “Cigarette Skies,” “COAST” follows up with some more atmospheric musicianship that starts to define the record’s dreamlike and airy quality. “Gold Shades” picks up the intensity a bit and features some jangly guitar along with memorable lyrics that float and bob around the booming basslines. The EP ends with the beach-vibey “Summer Heart” and has tribal-like percussion and weaving guitar that makes us feel as if we are on a sunlit beach, with a cold drink in hand – quite the feat considering the EP was written in the middle of the infamous Minnesota winter.
All-in-all, this is a cohesive and memorable EP that transports us to a warmer and gentler place that is well needed at this point in time.
