YOU HAD ME AT HELLO - BAHAMAS PLAY LE POISSON ROUGE

As you walk down the stairs to the stage at Le Poisson Rouge you can’t help but be enticed by the red lighting and velvet couch, even the singer of The Weather Station stated LPR resembles a swingers club. Le Poisson Rouge fit Bahamas oh so perfectly, the romantic yet subtle sultry feel paired up with an awesome happy hour.

The Weather Station took the stage in a all black outfit with a sweet smile she started her endearing folk set. As she crooned, you can’t help but just enjoy her beautiful, bittersweet folk sound. I definitely became a fan, as her simplicity filled the lowly lit room. She has a very graceful and bittersweet presence that will catch your attention.

The lights lowered, the band slowly made their way onstage, as the crowd cheered; Bahamas began an amazing show. Their sound is truly bliss, Alfie Jurvanen’s voice is lovable and his onstage personality makes it all the more memorable. I always love to look throughout the crowd to see what effect the band has on the audience and I saw friends having a good time, lovers kissing, people singing; crowds like this make the show even sweeter especially when the band has a great vibe together and with the audience.

The setlist began on a great note, got the crowd hyped with a few songs that you could definitely move to and transitioned into slow, croony songs that we can surely call “baby making music”. The song that resonated to me the most was “Caught Me Thinkin’, a catchy lovelorn song that got the crowd moving and I couldn’t help but smile; slowly and surely fall in love with Bahamas. Their song “Waves” from their new album “Bahamas is Alfie” had the audience in simply awe with his lyrics and his vocalist’s voice was purely heavenly; Bahamas is truly a musician you have to see live to really appreciate his already amazing folk album.
