WE’RE PSYCHED FOR MY MORNING JACKET’S UPCOMING QUEENS SHOW

Solo appearances aside, My Morning Jacket are playing just four shows this summer, so you really don’t want to miss out their upcoming date at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on August 10th, for which there are still limited tickets available. The much-loved Kentucky rockers usually throw a New Year’s bash, but even that is absent from their small tour schedule this year, so ticket demand has been high – and there are not many left to snag. Opening the show in Queens are popular L.A. indie rockers Warpaint. Furthermore, one dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to My Morning Jacket’s Waterfall Project; beneficiaries include Access Reproductive Care-Southeast (ARC), GreenWave, and The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Notably, My Morning Jacket are celebrating the two-decade anniversary of their 1999 debut album, The Tennessee Fire, and also releasing a deluxe version soon. Very recently, this occasion prompted them to add another New York show at the Capitol Theatre, which sold out rapidly (Stubhub remains an option for folks with thick wallets). The only conceivable reason their Forest Hills show hasn’t yet sold out is that it’s such a huge venue – and it may be off the radar of some NYC concertgoers, being over in Queens vs. Manhattan. We can attest that their last show there was utterly transformative and sounded amazing (read all about it here).

This jaw-dropping experience in 2017 was largely due to Jacket being Jacket, but also thanks to the rich acoustics in the historic outdoor amphitheatre – built in 1923, Forest Hills Stadium has been graced by The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and other legends with good reason. This was also the show in which MMJ brought us a mind-blowing “Dondante” that ran over fifteen minutes long, among many other highlights. You can enjoy that badassery below while grabbing your tickets for their return on August 10th right here.
