Today is a good day to premiere this fantastic video debut from Floyd called “What Do You Say.” Based out of San Fransisco, the alternative singer-songwriter has a knack of combining catchy pop-songs with a singer-songwriter’s sensible touch, and when it all comes together as in “What Do You Say,” it’s magic.
Produced and directed by 88spire of San Francisco, with Patrick Lawler serving as Director of Photography, “What Do You Say” was written by Floyd and produced by Ed Clare and Georgann Ireland for Nova Noir Productions. The bright and colorful video takes us on a trip with Floyd around San Fran and shows us iconic locations such as the Golden Gate Bridge, The Transamerica Pyramid and some really cool street art. “What Do You Say” is full of chunky guitars, tribal-esque percussion and Floyd’s powerful voice which rises above it all with soaring choruses. We try not to compare bands and artists here at P&W, but at certain times we hear influences like Blondie and Cyndi Lauper in this track, which is pretty neat. “‘What Do You Say’ is about realizing your own power and ability to choose how to respond to tough situations that you continue to find yourself in. It’s about recognizing the beauty in everyday, and finding the courage to rise above your own negative energy. We shot this video in San Francisco, where the gorgeous weather and iconic scenery really bolstered the message of the song. I am incredibly proud and excited about how it turned out. I was lucky enough to be awarded the Mike Kaney Scholarship by the production company which is granted to creatives who are working to take their art to the next level. I am incredibly grateful and humbled by their generosity.” – Floyd
