Pancakes and Whiskey unveils Russian quartet, Pompeya, with supporting acts LoveSkills and Leverage Models this coming Friday at Cameo Lounge, Brooklyn, for the penultimate date of their North and Central American tour. It’s been a hectic year for the indie floor-fillers: Twice touring the United States, and releasing their first full-length US LP, Tropical, on No Shame. Stream the album now.
The album’s a winner, too, sporting snappy offerings such as Power and Slaver – two of the more enticing dance invitations you’ll be proffered this year. Though danceable they may be, Pompeya’s set list has plenty to it by way of craft and sensitivity, so don’t expect one of those four-on-the-floor fiestas that peters out ‘round midnight. You might instead expect to see some fine, young exponents of the pop song.
