SUSU AND THUNDERPUSSY ROCK THE SULTAN ROOM

Between matching outfits, choreographed dances moves, intimate interactions with the crowd and lots of hair flips, the vibe at The Sultan Room was full of energy. We Color Live brought together two absolutely badass female fronted bands, Thuderpussy and SUSU, to create a night of magic.

Thunderpussy opened the show with a set full of rock goddess vibes. The four women of Thunderpussy completely destroy any stereotype that one would have of a rock and roll band and create their own unique definition. Lead singer Molly Sides had this vampiric spirit about her as she floated around stage enticing the crowd dancing fluidly with her microphone.

She even came out into the crowd towards the end, parting the sea of the audience with her aura alone, just the same as Moses parted The Red Sea. After watching Thunderpussy’s set it was as if I had drank a Red Bull I felt so energized.

From the moment SUSU stepped on stage the crowd, and myself, couldn’t stop dancing. The duo that is Liza Colby (of The Liza Colby Sound) and Kia Warren (of Revel in Dimes), along with their incredible band, are unstoppable. This show was SUSU’s first show back in NYC since February 14, 2020. Right before they played their song “Let’s Get High” that night, the band took a pause to reminisce about the night that was their first show ever and their journey after that. That show kicked off their European tour a week later only to have the pandemic throw a wrench in things.

They mentioned that they had gotten calls from people they knew back home telling them to come home because things in the world were not good. They had just begun playing shows together for the first time a few weeks ago and all of that was coming to a screeching halt.

Instead of going home to whatever unwanted fate awaited them, Susu ended up staying in France at their tour manager’s friend’s studio and recorded music and in my opinion, it worked out in their favor.

They were not leaving any bit of energy behind for their first show back. The passion in their performance left everyone wanting more for sure. The way they played off of each other and the crowd as well as how well they transitioned between songs and little tangents like tying their shoes, you could tell they were seasoned performers.
