They’ve been livin’ on the edge for over 50 years, and now the time has come for Aerosmith to walk this way into the sunset.
But they aren’t doing it without a little bluesy groove and pizazz first.
As announced on Monday (May 1), the Bad Boys of Boston put out the good word that they’re hanging it up with a massive 40-city North American tour, dubbed Peace Out, which is slated to start at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on September 2, before making stops along the way in a plethora of cities including, but certainly not limited to Pittsburgh, Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, Austin, Denver and Los Angeles among others, before closing out 2023 with what is sure to be a raucous hometown celebration at Boston’s TD Garden on New Year’s Eve. From there, they’ll make their way to a handful of other cities including Nashville, New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Columbus, before turning out the lights one last time at Montreal’s Bell Centre on January 26. Tagging along as support for the entirety of the trek will be The Black Crowes.
In a joint statement, the band has proclaimed “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
A cinematically-pleasing video accompanied the official bulletin, in which stars like Bill Burr, Eminem, Dolly Parton and a slew of others share in their disbelief of the news before Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford enter frame and confirm the rumor.
Also part of the announcement was the news that original drummer Joey Kramer, who stepped away from the band in 2020, will not be rejoining the band on its currently scheduled victory lap.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
The tour aims to cap off a titanic roller coaster of a 54-year run, during which they released 15 full-length studio albums, seven live albums, embarked on 10 world tours where they played to over 100 million fans, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, sold over 65 million records, were the stars of an amusement park ride and an installment of one of the most successful video game franchises in history, and received countless awards and accolades including 10 MTV Video Music Awards and four GRAMMYs.
Tickets for the Peace Out tour are set to go on sale Friday (May 5) at 10 a.m. ET via Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Check out the full list of dates below.
